The EMC’s Energy Storage Challenge
Why?
THIS EOI IS NOW CLOSED.
The mining industry’s transition to zero carbon remains reliant on its ability to store and dispatch vast amounts of intermittent renewable energy, such as wind and solar, to displace fossil fuels.
While renewable energy technology is becoming mature, the long duration energy storage technologies required to smooth its variability are largely not proven at the scale required in mining.
What?
Our Expression of Interest (EOI) is seeking providers of energy storage technologies that can, either individually or through collaboration, provide long-duration energy storage systems at one or more of several nominated sites.
We are looking to identify a range of storage capacities and technologies with no restriction on the form of technology – thermal, electric, gravity, chemical or other.
If you are an innovator who wants to help us transform the mining industry, we want to hear from you.
How can you get involved?
EOI submission closing date: 5pm, 13 October 2022 (AWST).
There will be an information session available to the public on 15 September 2022 (AWST). Details can be found here: https://www.trybooking.com/CCINO
Detailed use case data is available on request. Please contact EnergyStorageEOI@stateofplay.org for next steps and if you have any questions.
